Unselfish Service

“One thing will always secure heaven for us—the acts of charity and kindness with which we have filled our lives. We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

Mother Theresa

Mosiah 2:17

And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.

Choose Faith

"Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen, and choose faith over pessimism. ...Yes, faith is a choice, and it must be sought after and developed. Thus, we are responsible for our own faith. We are also responsible for our lack of faith. The choice is yours."

Bishop Richard C. Edgley

Meeting Your Goliath

1 Samuel 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

"Armed with this selection of five polished stones to be propelled by the mighty sling of faith, we need then but take the staff of virtue to steady us, and we are ready to meet the giant Goliath, wherever, and whenever, and however we find him."

"For the stone of COURAGE will melt the Goliath of fear. The stone of EFFORT will bring down the Goliath of indecision and procrastination. And the Goliaths of pride, of envy, of lack of self-respect will not stand before the power of the stones of HUMILITY, PRAYER, and DUTY."

"Above all else, may we ever remember that we do not go forth alone to battle the Goliaths of our lives. As David declared to Israel, so might we echo the knowledge, “The battle is the Lord’s, and he will give [Goliath] into our hands” (1 Samuel 17:47)."

The battle for our souls is no less important that the battle fought by David. The enemy is no less formidable, the help of Almighty God no farther away. What will our action be? Like David of old, ‘our cause is just.’ We have been placed upon earth not to fail or fall victim to temptation’s snare, but rather to succeed. Our giant, our Goliath, must be conquered.”

Sanctuaries of Righteousness

Let us make our homes sanctuaries of righteousness, places of prayer, and abodes of love that we might merit the blessings that can come only from our Heavenly Father.

Lifting Burdens: The Atonement of Jesus Christ

Alma 7:11-12

And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

Feeding our Souls

I love food but there is something amazing about warm, homemade bread.  The divine smell, and melt in your mouth taste - there is nothing better!  There are many places to go to eat wonderful bread and other food. But when we want to feed our souls, when we want the bread of heaven, when we want the words of life, we turn to the words of the Savior.  The scriptures say that Jesus taught, "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger" (John 6:35

This blog is just a daily dose of the bread of heaven that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives us, a small morsel of spiritual nourishment to feed our souls.
